Synopsis
The Sam 'n' Ella advertising agency has fallen on hard times and needs to find a way to make money fast. Recognizing how pumpkin spiced products sell during the winter holidays, Sam comes up with a new product: the pumpkin spiced bratte (rhymes with latte) - a pumpkin spiced scented bra.
Sam and his advertising team, which consists of his wife Ella, and his intern, Allie, go about manufacturing the pumpkin spiced bras by hanging them on a clothesline, and dipping them in pumpkin spiced latte. They then set out to create a marketing campaign to sell the scented bras.
Deciding that the most cost-effective way to reach people is through a viral internet commercial, they employ the talents of ex-teen sitcom star, Johnny O, who has fallen on hard times himself. Johnny O, who is now well into middle-age, was known as the improv king when he was a teen TV star - his adlibs and improvisations made him famous. Unfortunately, he was fired from his sitcom, and blacklisted from working in television, when in a fit of anger, during a taping of his show, he pulled down his pants, exposing the audience and everyone across the country to his girlfriend's panties with the words 'kiss my ass' written across his rear.
Sam, Ella, and Allie come up with a storyline for their pumpkin spiced bratte commercial, with the intention of having Johnny O improvise and adlib the dialogue. While filming the commercial, Sam and company discover that Johnny O is in reality, a horrible improviser, ruining each and every take with his poorly improvised lines and gestures. After multiple attempts to film the commercial, the team decides to resume the next day and try again.
The next day, in a last ditch effort to get a workable take of the commercial, Sam, Ella, and Allie cut all of Johnny O's dialogue, and tell him not to adlib or improvise. In fact, they tell him not to speak at all. This infuriates Johnny O, who considers himself a world-class improviser. After finally filming a good take of the commercial, everyone except Johnny O leaves for the night. When left alone, and having found out that Sam and Ella think his improvisations stink, Johnny O re-enacts his teen tantrum and records a special ending to the pumpkin spiced bratte commercial by pulling down his pants and showing his underwear with the words 'kiss my ass' printed across his rear. Sam, without knowing about Johnny O's 'special ending,' uploads the commercial straight to youtube as is.
The next time we meet Sam, Ella, Allie, and Johnny is three months later. The Sam 'n' Ella Ad Agency has gone out of business. No one watched the commercial - not one hit or view - not one pumpkin spiced bratte sold. Sam is despondent, and can't understand why the commercial was such a failure. Johnny O apologizes to Sam and Ella for his 'special ending,' but it turns out that they never watched the finished product, and they were unaware of Johnny's special ending. On Johnny's insistence, Sam and Ella watch the commercial. Meanwhile, Allie discovers that the youtube 'privacy' setting was on, and all she had to do was switch it to 'public' view for the world to see it. When Sam views Johnny O's special ending, he explodes in rage. Allie then switches the youtube commercial to 'public,' special ending and all. Soon, people start watching the commercial - from single digits, to hundreds, to thousands - sales of the pumpkin spiced bratte start multiplying with great speed. The commercial is a viral hit, sales of the pumpkin spiced bratte are through the roof, and as the play ends, the Sam 'n' Ella Ad Agency is reborn!
